The Next Course

This 3 days course is for proficient sailors wanting to step up into the racing world.

Day One
Proper sail shape at all points of sail using traveler and boomvang. Emphasis on smoothness in coming about and gybing while rounding racing marks.

Day Two
Spinnaker day. Emphasis on changing the sails at downwind mark.

2 half days of practice sail.
Practice with "The Next Course" students.

Last Day
Participation in one full day Racing Clinic.

Coastal Navigation Course

Self study course and 2 hours with ASA Instructor before taking the exam.. You will become efficient in measuring direction and distance, reading nautical charts, dead reckoning navigation, bearing and fixes, tides and currents, correcting course for current and leeway, fog navigation, rules of the road. During Coastal Cruising Course and Bareboat Chartering Course you will practice navigation in the "Real World" and work with Loran and GPS.

Racing Tactics

For many of our "Master's Course" graduates, our Racing programs are a great way to improve your sailing skills.

In 2 days ASA instructor teaches you the theory behind starting tactics, tied racing starts, proper sail trim and shape, mark-rounding strategies, stalling and accelerating tactics, upwind and downwind strategies, and how to use a spinnaker. 3 hours classroom instructions and 5 hours on water each day.

Racing Regatta

The program is taught in our Sonar class sloop. You will be coached on the racing skills and techniques as you put them all together in the fluid situation of actual racing.
Course Price: $225 for 10 sessions or $45 per session.
